Life Without Freedom on the Net

I wanted to search something on the net and came across the always reliable Wikipedia when suddenly I got shocked when I read that Wikipedia is on blackout!

I then continue to search why this is happening and was saddened by the news that the US Senate and House is proposing two bills to the Congress, the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and Protect Intellectual Property Act (PIPA).

So what does this mean? This means that these bills would censor the web and who knows, we get limited access to the internet.

Now, Google and Wikipedia and other more has been trying to get petitions from you to urge the Congress to vote NO to SOPA and PIPA. Unfortunately, this applies to US residents only. For us here in the Philippines, we can help by calling our local representatives and telling them that we are against SOPA and PIPA.

So if you want to continue having freedom in the net, make your move now. Sign this petition from Google and yes, tell your friends about this also. Voting in the Congress begins on January 24.

Bizzare Three-Legged Chick

I was out for a vacation at our province in Iloilo when I encounter this really unusual chick.

The normal chick has only two (2) legs and four (4) fingers. Maybe you wouldn't believe it but this one has three (3) legs! What's more? The extra leg has six (6) fingers!

I guess this chick was supposed to be twins but sadly, only the leg developed for the other one.

Here are the pictures I take for you to scrutinized. Sorry for the quality, I was using my cellphone's cam.

Not contented with the picture, check the video at Youtube

Badjaos in Cebu

I arrived at Cebu last January 3 and was surprised by the development of badjaos that were waiting in the harbour. I remembered that badjaos had to paddle their boat to catch up with the ship. For those who did not know, the badjaos' way of earning is diving for coins underwater. These coins were thrown by the incoming ship's passenger.

Anyway, what I'm really amazed at was that the badjaos doesn't do paddling anymore. Their boat comes equipped with motors already! I was amazed really because they can afford it with their meager source of income.

Here is the video I recorded during the docking of the ship. What didn't changed though was that they still carry their babies on the boat while doing their work. Kinda dangerous for the kids, isn't it?
