Dash Engineering's 20th Year Anniversary

Dash Engineering celebrates its 20th year anniversary last April 27 but the party was held on April 30. The venue was at the prestigious Marco Polo Plaza Hotel and was attended by its employees and invited guests composed of the city mayor, legal counsels, business partners, the company doctors and the Japanese class teacher.

Before the start of the program, everyone was assembled at the lobby of the hotel. The legendary ice sculpture was the main attraction in the lobby. It was carved to form the words "DASH 20 YEARS".

A glass of drink was given to make everyone at ease. Greetings, small talks and, of course, picture-taking was done. After awhile, everyone was ushered up the great staircase and led to the Grand Ballroom.

The ballroom was decorated with a green motif which symbolizes the 20th anniversary color. The ceiling was decorated with white cloths that accentuated the different light effects. Surely, chandeliers were present to add glamor to the ambiance.

The program was started with the introduction and acknowledgement of the guests and was followed by an opening speech depicting the history since 1992 from the company's senior adviser, Mr. Yukihiro Mimura. Afterwards, the President, Mr. Takuya Aramaki, gave his welcome speech. The program continued with the pinning of the 20th year anniversary token to all employees. Definitely, a kampai was done and headed by the vice-president, Mr. Harushige Kuriyama. Bottles of wine were opened and the loud popping sound was audible to all. Following, dinner was served and everyone ate to their heart's delight. The food was great, as usual.

After dinner, designated employees (including me) took the stand and gave out their wishes for the company. To make the night memorable, all employees were herded to the viewing deck of the hotel to witness the enchanting fireworks display. I myself was mesmerized by the bright and vibrant colors of the fireworks.

The program then ended with a thank you speech from the General Manager, Mr. Michael Joel Aranas, and the giving of the souvenir to the invited guests. Also, there was a band playing for those who wants to make most of the time in the ballroom.

Oh yes, before I forgot, a raffle draw was made also giving out remarkable prizes like Timex watches, external hard disk drives, headphones, flash drives, an android cellphone, and yes, the grand prize - a netbook! Unfortunately, I didn't won any of those. :(

All in all, it was really a night to be remembered. After all, it was an anniversary, right? :-)

40th Birthday Celebration

"Age is a matter of feeling, not of years." - George William Curtis

So ladies, don't fret. They wouldn't know it if you don't show it. :)

Anyway, this post was dedicated to my boss because (you guess right) it was her 40th birthday last March 21.

The party was celebrated at Simply J's Cafe/Restaurant.

We were among the first one to arrive and that gave us an advantage of seeing the place in its homely state. The venue reminds me of a western style kitchen that is mostly built of wood and with paintings hanging on the wall. By the way, the paintings that were there were for sale. So if you happen to go there, try to look at them coz they might interest you.

Not long after we arrived, other guests came filing in. Some have gifts, some haven't. But what was important was that everyone were there to become part of the 40th birthday celebration of Mrs. Marrisa Cantila.

Oh before I forget, the food. Here is the picture of the food that we were graciously served. I'm not good at describing the taste but all I can say was that they were scrumptious. Did I tell you that the chef is my boss' brother? Thanks to him! :)

All in all, everyone enjoyed the party and here are the pictures to affirm it.

The birthday celebrant with the punctual guests. :)

 Like mother, like daughter.

 Nice smiles, ladies.. :)
Another nice smiles. It's not obvious that you were hungry. :)

Pineapple and Chocolate Cakes for Dessert

 The latecomers. :P

 Hungry after the game.

I apologize for the limited pictures. I'm kinda shy to take the pictures of the other guests. ^_^

To my boss, cheers for a happy and healthy life!

Life Without Freedom on the Net

I wanted to search something on the net and came across the always reliable Wikipedia when suddenly I got shocked when I read that Wikipedia is on blackout!

I then continue to search why this is happening and was saddened by the news that the US Senate and House is proposing two bills to the Congress, the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and Protect Intellectual Property Act (PIPA).

So what does this mean? This means that these bills would censor the web and who knows, we get limited access to the internet.

Now, Google and Wikipedia and other more has been trying to get petitions from you to urge the Congress to vote NO to SOPA and PIPA. Unfortunately, this applies to US residents only. For us here in the Philippines, we can help by calling our local representatives and telling them that we are against SOPA and PIPA.

So if you want to continue having freedom in the net, make your move now. Sign this petition from Google and yes, tell your friends about this also. Voting in the Congress begins on January 24.

Bizzare Three-Legged Chick

I was out for a vacation at our province in Iloilo when I encounter this really unusual chick.

The normal chick has only two (2) legs and four (4) fingers. Maybe you wouldn't believe it but this one has three (3) legs! What's more? The extra leg has six (6) fingers!

I guess this chick was supposed to be twins but sadly, only the leg developed for the other one.

Here are the pictures I take for you to scrutinized. Sorry for the quality, I was using my cellphone's cam.

Not contented with the picture, check the video at Youtube

Badjaos in Cebu

I arrived at Cebu last January 3 and was surprised by the development of badjaos that were waiting in the harbour. I remembered that badjaos had to paddle their boat to catch up with the ship. For those who did not know, the badjaos' way of earning is diving for coins underwater. These coins were thrown by the incoming ship's passenger.

Anyway, what I'm really amazed at was that the badjaos doesn't do paddling anymore. Their boat comes equipped with motors already! I was amazed really because they can afford it with their meager source of income.

Here is the video I recorded during the docking of the ship. What didn't changed though was that they still carry their babies on the boat while doing their work. Kinda dangerous for the kids, isn't it?
