Life Without Freedom on the Net

I wanted to search something on the net and came across the always reliable Wikipedia when suddenly I got shocked when I read that Wikipedia is on blackout!

I then continue to search why this is happening and was saddened by the news that the US Senate and House is proposing two bills to the Congress, the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and Protect Intellectual Property Act (PIPA).

So what does this mean? This means that these bills would censor the web and who knows, we get limited access to the internet.

Now, Google and Wikipedia and other more has been trying to get petitions from you to urge the Congress to vote NO to SOPA and PIPA. Unfortunately, this applies to US residents only. For us here in the Philippines, we can help by calling our local representatives and telling them that we are against SOPA and PIPA.

So if you want to continue having freedom in the net, make your move now. Sign this petition from Google and yes, tell your friends about this also. Voting in the Congress begins on January 24.
